Episode 123: A Valentine Lollipop

This was an unexpected project but a fun one that I can adapt in the future for other holidays.  My daughter, at the last minute, decided she didn't want to take the boring Michael's Valentine mailbox to school to collect her Valentines in but, instead, wanted me to make a container in the shape of a lollipop.  "Ooookkkk...I apparently will be putting my current project on hold to make a lollipop," I thought.  So...how to make a lollipop that holds candy?  Here's what I came up with:

I actually got a little giddy when this started to come together because I love over-sized decorations and props.  And, yes, I know it's WAAAYYY big, but who cares?  I think it's cool.

Supplies Needed:

A postal cylinder.  I bought mine at a local pack and mail place for $5.
A large styrofoam ball.  Styrofoam is ridiculously expensive.  Go to Hobby Lobby, and use a coupon.
Various ribbons you have laying around.
E6000 glue
Chipboard
Cardstock
Hole Puncher (I used my Crop-A-Dile II Big Bite)
Cricut and Cricut Cartridge, Alphalicious....or use stickers
Floral wire
Transparent wrapping paper
Box cutter

It is a bit top heavy, so if you were using this for a decoration you might think about adding a base to stabilize it.  Other than that, I am very pleased with how it turned out!
