Unexpected Project

My daughter wanted a curtain to swag in front of her bedroom door.  She's the Diva in the household, a nickname she owns proudly.  A curtain in front of her door?  Yea, that's what my husband said as he was hanging the curtain rod above it that I had bought at Hobby Lobby with my 40% off coupon a few hours earlier.  Yes, a curtain in front of the door.  Why? Why not?  Why be boring?  Why not roll with your kids' ideas sometimes?  You might be surprised.  I was.

So, after school, I took Diva to the aforementioned Hobby Lobby where she picked out her fabric:

I have no idea where she gets her taste for pink and black.  (Wink. Wink.)

So, I just sewed simple 1/2 inch seams on the sides and bottom and then a curtain rod pocket with a little bit of a ruffle at the top.

Here's the door before with leftover birthday decorations her sister put up.  Notice the remnants of streamers at the top.  This was Diva's way of trying to make a curtain, so the idea has been brewing for a while.

Add a curtain rod, a tieback hook, and a tassel all purchased at Hobby Lobby, and you have a little girl door makeover.

For an unplanned, throw together project, I was really pleased.  Is this necessary?  No, but it's fun. And Diva is already playing with her curtain.  I heard her talking about a magic show.
