Episode 107: Luau Tablescape and Decor

So, to continue with the Luau theme, I'd like to show you my Luau Tablescape.  It was kind of a kid buffet that worked out quite well.  They would swim a little while and then come have a snack.  My husband grilled hotdogs after giving the kids a while to swim.  Check out the video:

And here are some pics.  Sorry about the quality.  In all the rush to get the party set up I completely forgot to take pics with my good camera.  I had to use snapshots from my video.

I couldn't believe my luck in finding these perfect Hawaiian-inspired cupcakes at Target!  (I hate to cook.)

Here are a couple of Pinterest projects.  I filled up little plastic cups with blue M&Ms and blue gumballs to symbolize water, and then I sprinkled fish shaped candies and little gummy circles on top.  The kids LOVED these....and even some of the moms too!

And the other Pinterest project is gummy fish on skewers wrapped in treat bags and tied with raffia.  A great party favor!

Now here are some more snapshots of the decor:

I got these tiki lanterns at Party City.  I LOVE the colors, and they helped make everything feel so festive!

This is a SUPER easy photo prop to make.  I bought a foam core board at Hobby Lobby, and cut out a rectangle with an Xacto knife.  The top and sides have a 4 inch border, and the bottom has an 8 inch border.  Then I cut out 5 inch letters out of brown vinyl using my Pink Cricut Expression and the Cricut Cartridge "Life is a Beach".  The kids liked having their pics taken with this prop.

And, no this isn't a party decoration, but, seriously, isn't he cute???  Teddy, one of our pugs, likes to cool himself down by sitting in the spillway between the spa and pool.  :-)

Thanks for stopping by!
